海外旅行の持ち物は基本的には持ちすぎないことが良いとされています。あまり多く持ち物を持っていくと荷物が重くなり、移動が困難になるからです。
また、海外旅行の荷物は明らかに帰りの荷物が多くなります。お土産が必ずと言っていいほど購入しますから。荷物が減って帰ることは十中八九ありません。
それで、持ち物は吟味する必要があります。ただ、各国々で必要とされるものは必ずあります。私がグアム旅行に行った際に必要と感じたものは、傘でした。
グアムの気候で雨季の時は、ほぼ毎日雨が降ると考えていただいても大丈夫です。それほど高確率で雨が降ります。ただ、一日中降ることはなく、スコールが多いのもまた確かです。
したがって、長い傘は荷物になるのでお勧めしませんが、一時的に使用できる折りたたみ傘がお勧めです。また、グアムでは傘はほとんどありませんでした。
現地の方も雨が降ることには抵抗（気にされて）ないようで、現地での購入はないと考えて下さい。グアムだけでなく、スコール対策として折りたたみ傘は海外旅行に必要なものの一つです。是非持参して、楽しい旅行にしてください。
